There are several procedures and tests that make up a routine eye exam here at Vista Vision Optical. Our
Bushwick optometrist, Dr. Nathanson, will first test your eye muscle movements by asking you to track an object with your eyes, during which he will track your eye movements. He may also conduct a cover test, where Dr. Nathanson will ask you to focus on an object and will cover one eye. He will test both eyes and see how well your eyes move. Dr. Nathanson will also test how well your eyes adjust and react to the light. He will have you rest your chin while he shines lights in your eyes and records your eyes’ reactions. While he is doing this, he will also be taking note of the exterior of your eye, the conditions of the whites of your eyes, and he will also examine your eyelids. He will then test your visual acuity by having you read from a chart some distance away, asking you to read off letters from different lines.
If you are shown to have a visual impairment, our
Bushwick optometrist will continue this test but will use a machine that will allow you to see the chart through different magnifications from which he can glean your prescription. Here at Vista Vision Optical, Dr. Nathanson will also conduct a retinoscopy which will help Dr. Nathanson more accurately measure your prescription.
