Wyckoff Avenue opticians will ensure that you eyeglasses are made to fit you correctly. If they’re not comfortable, you may avoid wearing them as often as you should. If your eyeglasses are small, they’ll be too tight and they can pinch the bridge of your nose. They can also cause discomfort to the bridge of your nose and/or your ears. If they’re too large, they can slide off the bridge of your nose and you’ll have to keep pushing them upward to prevent them from falling off. They might fall off despite your efforts if they’re too big for you.
There are four areas that our
Wyckoff Avenue opticians will check to determine if your eyeglasses fit properly: the frame, the temples (the arms), the bridge (nose piece) and the pupil position. Your frames should be slightly wider than your face but small enough so that the temples (arms) don’t touch your face. Temples that fit correctly should curve when it reaches your ear and not before. Also, the temples should extend back and touch your head just before the ear. The bridge or nose piece (the part that joins the 2 lenses and fits across your nose) should fit snuggly across your nose without being too tight and without gaps. The pupil position is the distance between the pupils. This is a very important measurement so the correction can be in the proper area. Your pupils need to be close to the center of the lenses for proper vision correction. When you have glasses that fit correctly, they will stay on no matter what facial expression you are making, no matter if what direction/position your face is in (upward or downward). Another indication that your eyeglasses fit correctly is that they do not rest on your cheeks or touch your brows.
